Special Session 5

Special Session 5 : Novel technologies and approaches for water and wastewater treatment and monitoring: from ideas to results

Chairman: Prof. Eng. Gregory V. Korshin- University of Washington (USA)

This special session is intended for a broad audience of environmental engineers, academic researchers and public health professionals. Presentations of this session will discuss the concepts and applications of novel technologies developed to detect and remove emerging contaminants, for instance trace-level residuals of pharmaceuticals and personal care products, and pathogens, notably viruses, from water and wastewater. Other topics of interest are the development of new materials and methods to improve membrane processes and control membrane fouling, and to remove recalcitrant contaminants generated in engineered systems. Research on novel methods for wastewater-based epidemiology is very welcome.
